RemotePass MCP FAQ

Answers to the most common questions about RemotePass MCP.

What is MCP?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT connect to external data sources. RemotePass MCP uses this standard to give your AI tools direct access to your live RemotePass data via OAuth.

Which AI tools does RemotePass MCP work with?

Any MCP-compatible AI tool. Claude and ChatGPT are confirmed compatible at launch. If your tool supports the Model Context Protocol, it will work with RemotePass MCP.

What can I do through MCP?

RemotePass MCP supports both querying and actions. You can query contracts, payments, review items, approval flows, transactions, company users, and reference data. You can also take action: create, update, amend, and archive contracts; create, update, and delete approval flows; and approve or decline pending payments and review items including time-off requests, expense claims, and invoices.

How do I connect?

You connect via a standard OAuth flow using your RemotePass credentials. Setup instructions vary slightly by AI tool. See the relevant guide for Claude, ChatGPT, or other MCP-compatible tools.

Does each person on my team need to connect separately?

Yes. Each user connects their own RemotePass account via OAuth. Your access level in RemotePass determines what data you can query and what actions you can take. An Admin can access company-wide data, while other roles see only what their permissions allow.

Can I combine RemotePass data with other sources?

Yes, and this is one of the main advantages of using MCP. Once your AI tool has access to RemotePass, it can combine that data with other documents and sources already in your conversation. You can cross-reference expiring contracts with a budget model, layer headcount data over a hiring plan, or pull payment data into a finance report, all in one prompt.

Is my data secure?

RemotePass MCP uses OAuth, the same authentication your RemotePass account uses. You can only access data your account has permission to see. Your data is not shared across accounts and is never used to train AI models.

Is MCP an add-on?

No. RemotePass MCP is included in the base product at no additional cost.

What is the difference between MCP and Ask AI?

Ask AI is a conversational interface built directly into RemotePass. You open it inside the platform and ask questions about your data. MCP connects your RemotePass data to AI tools you already use outside RemotePass, like Claude or ChatGPT, where you can query it, combine it with your other sources, and take action. They are different features serving different workflows.
